From East Africa to the Ends of the Earth

Pioneers mobilises teams to glorify God among unreached people groups by initiating church planting movements in partnership with local churches.

Today Pioneers has more than 3000 international missionary members, working among more than 200 unreached people groups in over 100 countries, sent from 17 mission gateways around the world. Pioneers East Africa is seeking East Africans with a pioneering spirit to join one of Pioneers’ 320+ mission teams, to bring the light and truth of Christ to those who have never heard.

Our Part

Every year, it is estimated that in Nairobi alone, about 1,000 Christians receive God’s call to serve him in the mission fields of the world. Sadly, less than 2% of those called make it to the mission field because there aren’t enough churches or indigenous agencies available to send them.

Pioneers East Africa exists to facilitate the recruitment, training, preparation, sending, missionary care and hospitality of those called by God to serve Him, from the 14 countries of the East African to the unreached people groups of the world.

Core Values

Passion for God

The Great Commandment is our motive for the Great Commission. We want to live our lives fully surrendered to Him so that all nations may know that He alone is God.

Unreached Peoples

Pioneers focuses on those with the least opportunity to hear and understand the gospel.

Core Values

Church Planting Movements

We want to see new believers united in fellowship with other believers, forming churches that plant churches—until all peoples are reached.

Ethos of Grace

We value people. We understand that each person bears the image of God. Therefore we endeavour to cultivate an atmosphere of mutual acceptance and respect in all our relationships. We also encourage each one to attain his or her full potential in Christ.

Local Church

Pioneers partners with sending churches to plant new communities of Christians. We also work alongside local, indigenous fellowships wherever possible.

Team Focus

Teams that are both task- and member-focused are the core of Pioneers. This is crucial since many of the world’s remaining unreached peoples are in difficult and isolated pockets of the world.

Innovation and Flexibility

Reaching the world’s remaining unreached peoples requires creativity and a sensitivity to the unique calling, vision and needs of each missionary.

Participatory Servant Leadership

Pioneers has a decentralided leadership structure. We are also principle- rather than policy-driven. We use an interactive approach to decision making that is based on trust.

Stories From The Field

Profile: Ukerewe Island

When Emmanuel and Severa Mgosi moved to Ukerewe Island from their home in Dar es Salaam, they didn’t know what the Lord had in store. They only knew that he had called them to bring the gospel to those who haven’t heard and they wanted to obey.
